As soon as the decision to outsource has been made public, the staff affected need to be told what is going to happen to them in as much detail as possible. To do this effectively, you will need the engagement and support of the prospective outsourcer.
But bringing in a third party to brief staff early could put it in a stronger negotiating position than you would have liked – after all, once the provider has been introduced to the staff and set the expectation levels, it will be much harder for you to walk away from the deal.
