Given that IT outsourcing is virtually carrying the rest of the technology sector through today’s troubled economic waters, the development of a market that will almost match IT outsourcing in size by 2005 is something that no serious services buyer can ignore.
The UK’s business process outsourcing market will grow to
£10.3 billion in 2005, compared to
£3.5 billion in 2001 (see Figure 1). By comparison, the IT outsourcing market in the UK is set to grow to £11.9 billion by 2005, making a combined IT outsourcing/BPO market – eliminating any overlap – of £21 billion.
